i really want to teach a workshop!

and we can’t wait to see all the tantalizing, thought-provoking topics you have to offer. applications are now open - show us what you got.

i don't want to be a presenter but i love facilitating discussions. can i submit that as a workshop?

we’re absolutely into that. apply here.

i don’t want to teach or facilitate a discussion, but i have a really cool idea for a group activity! can i submit this as a class idea?

we encourage you to apply to lead all types of activities.

ideas: kinky craft hour, speed dating, kinky clothing swap, group meditation, etc.

we want you to showcase your talents and share with the community. you can submit those ideas just like you would a workshop or discussion.

but i have no experience presenting…

this is a participant-powered con, and we don’t want anyone to feel like being a leader in our community is out of reach. we encourage anyone who has a great idea to apply.

but you require references??

we do. we want to make sure that, as a community con, we’re supporting presenters that are supported by community. but that can look a lot of ways: people you’ve played with that vouch for you, people you’ve attended cons with that can speak to your behavior, other facilitators who know your work, organizers of other cons - anyone who knows ideally how you facilitate but at least how you work in a space that requires the ongoing consent of participants.

whoever you choose, please make sure they know you’re kinky and consent to giving you a reference for us.

i have so many things to offer! can i just direct you to my website?

we had 97 submissions in 2023 for approximately 30 timeslots, so we’re going to ask you to be choosy with what you apply to share with the community. in 2024, you can apply with a maximum of four classes.

additionally, we will not go to your website to look at your offerings. we want you to choose which offering(s) will delight you to teach. in the same spirit, we also won’t choose from a list of classes you offer us.

so instead of applying with one of your mainstays (if you’ve got ‘em) or what you think we’ll like (if you don’t), consider: what does your heart most long to show to queer kinksters? is there anything you know a lot about that you want more queer folks involved in? choose those!

how do you evaluate applications?

we evaluate applications without looking at the names attached - so don’t lean on your notoriety and don’t worry if you don’t have any. we also pay attention to who’s following the directions - which we strive to make as clear as possible - so please keep that in mind. we do look at the subject of the presentations (including overlap), how well-thought-out the learning goals and the paragraph description are, what limitations we have around space, and all demographic information to ensure our con is as diverse as queer kinksters are. because of this, it’s possible some people may end up teaching more than one workshop if that’s something they consent to.

what’s the deal with travel/housing for presenters?

we are committed to working with at least some (ideally all) of the presenters we choose to offer travel and housing support. however, you must list this need in your application in order to be considered for support.

new for 2024: we also want to see if, as a part of presenting, y’all want us to arrange for you to stay in an airbnb with other presenters for the weekend. there is a question on the application about spatial needs (no stairs? coming with polycule? etc.) and financial needs (need us to cover it? have a budget?). please note that this will apply to selected presenters only.

i have a question about presenting you didn’t answer!

if after reading all of these answers you still have questions, you can get in touch, but if we are in the application or decision-making timeframe, please do your best not to reveal which presentation(s) is yours.
